The Highs And Lows Of 2018 Tag

I love a good blogger tag and I think this one is a great way to start the year. It’s always good to look back over the last twelve months and reflect on the good and the bad and to have a think about what everything has taught us over the year. So here we go with the Highs and Lows of 2018 tag.

Rules

1. Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog and mine as the founder of the tag

2. Answer the questions

3. Tag to take part 5 or more bloggers asking them to take part and let them know on social media

4. Post the questions without your answers at the bottom of your post so that they are easy to copy and paste for the people you tag

Here we go!

A huge thank you goes to Kate from Kate On Thin Ice for tagging me in this. I really enjoyed your post and hope you enjoy this one too.

1. What was your happiest event?

September was an exciting time as we decided to adopt a beautiful 10-week old kitten from the Blue Cross. Miranda was the cat that I had always wanted. She loved me from the beginning and was my shadow. Always following me around the house and wanting cuddles morning, noon and night.

2. What was the saddest thing to happen?

Unbelievably at five minutes to midnight on New Years Eve, my happiest moment turned into my saddest moment. Lovely Miranda passed away in my husband’s arms before the clocks chimed into the New Year. It was such a sad way to end the year and I’m still coming to terms with it.

3. What was the most unlikely thing to happen that actually went ahead and did?

I said yes to far more opportunities than I would have done two or three years ago!

4. Who let you down?

I did feel let down on occasions, but this isn’t something I want to delve into here. I’m sure my readers will understand.

5. Who supported you?

My husband and my Sister have been my biggest supporters. My husband knows how time-consuming blogger life can be. At times I know it annoys him when I am sat tapping away but he supports me all the same. My Sister was a fabulous support when I had an event to attend but couldn’t drive, or walk. And she supports me all year around on social media too. I’m always grateful.

6. Tell us what you learned.

I have learned that you really need to look after yourself. It’s so important to rest when needed and listen to your body when it’s tired.

7. Tell us what made you laugh

Wonderful family and good friends made me laugh.

8. Tell us the things that made you cry

I have cried many tears over the loss of Miranda and continue to do so. It has affected me in a huge way. A lot of people don’t understand how grieving for a pet can be the same as a person but it really can. I will be writing a blog post about this very soon.

9. Tell us three things your child or children did to make you feel proud. Please miss this question out if you are not a parent.

Little Man’s transition into Year 1 is something that I am immensely proud of. Going from Reception to Year 1 is a big step because there is a lot of learning in place of the play that they are used to. He has done so well and I am excited to see what this year holds for him

Last year, Little Man had to start wearing glasses and a lot of children would have struggled with it, but he took to them like a duck to water. This was great and I am very proud of him for this.

The way Little Man has handled Miranda’s death has been admirable. Children generally do handle them better than adults, but you never really know how they are taking it. He’s made me very proud.

10. Tell us the things that made you proud of yourself

I am proud of how I have continued to grow this blog. It has been through sheer hard work and commitment that I have managed this. Anyone who works for themselves will know that at times, you really have to be organised and motivated. It can be so easy to say ‘oh I’ll do it tomorrow’ when you’re not in the mood. I’ve been guilty of this, but if you want to get great results, you have to give it your all. I was determined last year and thankfully I was rewarded by working with some great brands and clients.

11. Tell us the challenges you overcame

Trying new things is always a challenge for me. I am a typical introvert and anything that takes me out of my comfort zone is a challenge for me, but there were a few events I went to last year that took their toll on my nerves, but I persevered and got through it and I am so pleased with myself for doing so.

12. Tell us the things you would like to change about your life in 2019

I would love to be in a position to take my blog full time and do more freelance work. It’s every bloggers dream and it is something that I would love to do, certainly within the next two years.

I would also like to think about myself more. I spend a lot of my time trying to please others and in doing so neglect my own wants and needs. Instead of saying yes more, I probably need to say no more.
