3 Ways to Spend More Time Outside This Summer

Spend More Time Outside This Summer

The winter months can be pleasant, sure, but summer’s where the action is. It’s a time to be outside, have fun, and create memories that’ll sustain us through the next cycle of cooler months.

If you live in a region where the winter months have been overly cold and long, now’s the time to begin thinking about how you’ll make the most of the warm weather season when it finally arrives. All too often, we expect fun to automatically happen once the sunshine arrives, but that’s not always the case — as with most things, when it comes to summer, you get out what you put in.

We’ve already got one eye on summer, and with that in mind, we thought that now’s the perfect time to share some advice on how you can actually spend as much time outside this summer as you’d like to, rather than just hoping it’ll happen and then waking up in September realizing that it’s passed you by.

Upgrade Your Camping Equipment

Spending a night sleeping under the stars can do wonders for your emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. The problem is that it can be uncomfortable if you’re not properly prepared, and so while you might go camping once with whatever gear you have, you’re unlikely to make it a regular thing.

Upgrading your camping equipment now will have you ready to go camping once the weather warms up. Invest in some cool camping supplies, make reservations at the best campsites in your area, and look forward to all the fun that it’ll bring.

Live Near a Lake? Invest in a Boat

Owning a boat can be a game-changer for how you experience the summer months. Not only will it have you spending significantly more time outside, but it’ll also provide a whole lot of fun, allow you to socialize, and give you easy access to a relaxing activity (spending time on the water has been shown to invoke a “blue mind,” lowering stress and boosting mood).

All boats can be used for cruising/relaxing purposes, but it’s best to choose the specific brand of boat you buy based on the water-based activity you have in mind. Moomba boats are great for wakesurfing and wakeboarding, Sylvan boats are perfect for large-group socializing, and Premier pontoons offer good fishing opportunities. But as we said, boats are versatile, and you’ll find that virtually any vessel offers plenty of relaxation possibilities.

Put Together a Summer-Worthy Backyard

You won’t always have the energy and enthusiasm to head into nature, but equally, you won’t want to spend a lovely summer’s evening sitting inside your home. Putting together a summer-worthy backyard will allow you to soak up all there is to love about the season, like spending hours reading, right on your own property.

Even small upgrades can make a difference to how you experience your backyard. For the biggest impact, focus on creating an outdoor living area, one that includes comfortable seating, evening lighting, outdoor dining furniture, and a sound system — you’ll have no reason to spend your evenings inside.
