21st Century Dating With Meetchu

Meetchu

I am going to openly admit. I am as obsessed with Love Island as the rest of the country, but I won’t lie, it’s made me somewhat relieved that I am not single anymore! It always appears so stressful ‘grafting’ for your latest love interest and it makes me feel bad for my single friends!

I was chatting with one of my single girlfriends recently who has been swiping left and right in certain dating apps for the last couple of years but has had no success. She has met up with a few of her ‘compatible’ matches but they ended up not being as compatible as she had hoped. She was close to giving up. That’s when I told her about a new dating app that I had heard of recently. The app in question is called ‘Meetchu‘.

Meetchu

Meetchu is a dating app with a difference. Users can’t hide behind pretend fake profile photos in Meetchu because it has an integrated video and voice calling allowing users to “meet before they meet”.

The voice and video calling functionality that Meetchu offers make meeting potential dates much safer. You no longer have to give out your own phone number to have a more personal conversation. It’s all done within the app.

I told my friend all about the app and she was keen to give it a go.

Now for obvious reasons, I’m not able to show you screenshots of her profile, but I can show you the images from the app store so you can see what it’s like.

Setting up the profile was really easy and it wasn’t long before my friend could start browsing potential dates. What is different about Meetchu that my friend loved, is that you have and can view video profiles – think Instagram stories! It’s so modern and refreshing! She also loves that after messaging back and forth, if she wants to take the plunge and chat on the phone or even have a video call she can – securely. The awkward first date is potentially a thing of the past, and that can only be a good thing!

The one other feature that really stands out about Meetchu, is that if it all goes wrong and you really don’t want to pursue your match, you can erase every single message from both your phone and theirs, and you need never have contact again. No more drunken messages to deal with – now that is something!

My friend has been using it for a couple of weeks now and so far, is really impressed. She has been messaging a couple of guys and is very close to arranging a phone call and maybe even a video call, safe in the knowledge that none of her personal details will be shared. It’s a win, win situation and I’m excited to see how it works out for her. Who knows, I might need to buy a hat eventually!

Meetchu is FREE, but there is a premium version available. The premium version unlocks bonus features, including unlimited video and voice calling, unlocking all emojis, changing your search location and allowing you to ‘jump the queue’ to be seen first.

If you haven’t used Meetchu before, but think you might be tempted, you can download the app using my code here to receive a one month’s free premium membership!

Meetchu is currently only available on iOS for iPhone.

Have you ever tried Meetchu? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!

I met my wife just before I turned 18 and that was back in 1998. Thinking about how meeting “the one” back then was really down to chance is quite amazing. I’ve never, of course, tried online dating but I reckon if I were a young singleton nowadays it’s the way I would be going!

I am so glad I’m not single! I wouldn’t stand a chance in this modern dating world! BUT this is the best app I’ve heard of to date! I love the fact that you are safe and get to protect your privacy for as long as you see fit! Going out on blind dates through apps is so dangerous that it’s tough to not ask someone to track you or go out with you because you just never know what someone will really be like.
    Brilliant review!

It’s crazy how things change. I would have loved to have given this a go in my single days. Everything was about right place right time back then. #TriumphantTales

Meeting people online seems to be increasing in popularity and it’s great to see that people are unable to pretend to be something else on this app. #TriumphantTales
