Every year in the summer, when the time comes for me to show a bit more skin, I get a little self-conscious and without fail, I always end up reaching for a bottle of fake tan. I swear it takes pounds of you and if it makes me feel a bit better about myself then I have no shame in my weekly summer routine.
I’ve tried many fake tans in the past and most years I always find a new favourite. It seems this year is no different. This year I’m loving Get Baked Self Tanning Mousse along with the Coffee Scrub and Body Butter that is also in the range.
Get Baked Coffee Scrub
I started off by exfoliating with the Get Baked Coffee Scrub. Now I won’t lie, I was a little dubious because when it comes to all things coffee, I’m not a fan. Not the taste, nor the smell – Starbucks and Costa are my worst nightmare. But for the sake of beauty, I was going to make the sacrifice. The scrub is just like dried coffee and it smells just like it too. I jumped into the shower and then turned off the water before applying the scrub. It is a little messy so I would advise applying it in the shower so you can wash away the excess. I left it on for about ten minutes – this is the perfect time for some bathroom karaoke! And then I washed it off. Well, you would think dried coffee would dry your skin, wouldn’t you? Well, it doesn’t. I was left with silky, smooth, moisturised skin and there was no sign of last weeks fake tan. The coffee scrub did good.
Get Baked Self Tanning Mousse
I waited a day before applying my tan. My skin was nicely moisturised and not only did I want to enjoy that, I wanted to make sure my tan went on well and lasted. So the next day I set to, with a glove and a tanning mitt to do my application.
The tan is a mousse, but it is much runnier than what you may have used before. The idea behind Get Baked tan is that it is in one shade so it can be as pale or as dark as you like – you have control. If you want a darker shade, just add more layers. It has a colour guide so you can see where you’ve applied it, which is always useful and something I always look for in a fake tan.
I ended up applying two layers of Get Baked tan and if I had more time, I may have gone for an extra layer. But I was really happy with the overall result. It went on really well and didn’t dry patchy at all – always a bonus! I try to leave my tan on for as long as possible and if I can, will always leave it overnight. I like to let it bake, literally! After a shower the next day, I was more than pleased with the results. Have a look at my before and after picture below.

If nothing else, you can see why I feel the need to fake tan! But look at that glow!
Get Baked Choco Body Whip
I used the Get Baked Choco Body Whip moisturiser the next day and every day after, but it was as much as I could do to stop myself from eating it. The smell of this more than makes up for the coffee scrub (I know, I know, who doesn’t like the smell of coffee!). I was at work taking sneaky sniffs of my arm. It smells divine! It moisturises brilliantly and it definitely helps maintain the tan. Hand on heart I have never come across a fake tan that fades as evenly and naturally as Get Baked tan. It’s like the holy grail.
I’m excited to have a streak-free, luscious smelling, summer of tanned limbs, all thanks to Get Baked Self Tanning Mousse.
