Being a Mum and being a blogger, I didn’t feel like I could let Mother’s Day go by without a post dedicated to Mums. It didn’t feel right.
Day after day and week after week, we all sit here with our laptops, tablets or smartphones, scrolling through, reading about each other’s lives. Our ups and our downs and our triumphs and tribulations. I wanted to contribute something this Mother’s Day and so my contribution is this.
What makes a SuperMum?
We all question our abilities on a daily basis. I know I do. Am I good enough? Am I playing with him enough? Am I playing with him too much? Am I too strict? Am I too soft? Why won’t he eat? Why won’t he do as his told? Is it my fault? What did I do wrong? Am I a crap Mum?
I’ve come to learn over the last few years, that to have these questions, is completely normal. It’s what makes us good Mums. We ask ourselves these questions on a regular basis because we care about the job that we are doing. If we didn’t care about any of this stuff, that would make us a ‘not so good’ Mum.

My gorgeous and very kind friend wrote this about me on an Instagram photo she posted recently: “Today we went to the Salon d’Agriculture. A huge agricultural show in Paris. It took us over an hour to get there and was totally rammed, of course it being Paris, NOTHING was pram or baby friendly. But we went anyway and it was AWESOME. No regrets. Thanks mostly to my friend Kate I’m not afraid of taking Arthur anywhere on my own. She’s the bravest most adventurous mum I know and takes her kids everywhere meaning they’ve had the most amazing experiences. Kate co-founded www.fivelittlestars.com which reviews products in order to help us make the best use of our consumer power. Everything she has ever recommended to me I use every single day. I think it’s one of the nicest things anyone has ever publically said about me

To me, Nicola Craddock is a supermum. She works full time across four days while being a perfect mum to her little boy RLT. She has to cram five days worth of work into her four days just so she can make sure she can spend more time with her son. She never moans about it, even though I know she finds it really hard. So inspiring to see someone work full time and still make time for her little family; proving women can have it all.

Blowing my own trumpet…..to me I’m a pretty awesome super Mum! It took me 5 years, a lot of losses and IVF to achieve my dream of becoming a Mum. I never gave up hope and each angel baby gave me more strength and determination to reach my goal. I’m now Mum to a gorgeous baby boy who I dedicate every waking minute to to ensure he has the best possible life I can give him.

I have rarely met a Mum who I didn’t consider to be a bad ass to be honest. Every single one has their own battles and I see them all just getting on with it and doing what they can for their families. I think most Mums are Supermums.
What I love most about these contributions is the contrast in answers. We have friends, Nicola and Jo. Looking at their Mum friends before looking at themselves. Giving compliments and thanks to their friends, and putting them first. Then we have admission and honesty from Jo – which I love by the way – saying it loud and proud that she IS SuperMum – and rightly so. Then we have Natasha, who sums it up beautifully. We are all SuperMum’s.
Every day we do the best we can for our little ones and our families. We get up every day with them on our mind and we go to bed every night, thinking of them. We have no clue if we do the right thing from day to day, but we carry on regardless, winging it as we go.
We do all of this filled with love for the miracles we created. We do this because it’s what we do. Whether it’s a good day or a bad day, it’s what we do. We do this because we are Mum – and it’s a pretty damn awesome job.
To end this blog post, I want to share with you my favourite video about Mums. It’s shared countless times online around Mother’s Day and I just feel it fits so well here. I personally can’t ever watch it without having a little tear in my eye. I hope you enjoy it.
