We are now two weeks into the Summer holidays and how are we all surviving? Are you managing to keep your little people occupied? We have been so lucky with the weather so far, I’m only hoping it keeps up so that we can carry on with the latest obsession in our neighbourhood – rock painting, hiding and hunting!
Recently, a Facebook group was created for us locally to join in the fun. The idea is to paint pretty designs on rocks, take a picture, upload them to the group and then go and hide them for others to find. Then, when they find them, they take a picture, upload them and then re-hide them, and so on and so forth!
It has been a lot of fun so far and it’s a really lovely, cheap way to keep the Little Man entertained.
I bought some acrylic paint pens and some sealant from Amazon and I think it cost around £15 for the two. The rocks we have decorated are ones we have found around our local housing estate. We live on a newbuild estate so, as you can imagine, there are quite a few lying around, which we can pick up, bring home to clean and then start to decorate.
I was quite excited to get involved and so far my contributions have been a Mickey and a Minnie Mouse. It’s easy to get carried away, but it is so much fun. It’s also a lovely way to get out in the fresh air, go for a walk and get some exercise without realising that you are doing so!
The Little Man loves hunting for them, and I don’t know why it is, but kids have such an eagle eye for this kind of thing and he finds them way before I do.
You wouldn’t think something so simple could bring that much pleasure and joy to little people. It brings a great sense of community to the area too and is also a great way to make new friends. Long may it continue.
