I’m excited to be hosting another guest post this week. It’s been a few weeks since the last one – I’ve been too busy rambling on myself to let anyone else get a look in! But we’re back this week with a nice little post from a company called iZully. iZully is an online marketplace that helps parents find the best, reviewed children’s classes in their local towns. They are currently working with providers in London and the surrounding areas (Essex, Kent and Surrey). They also write a daily blog with relevant content about after school clubs and activities and other trending topics. Today they have kindly offered to give us some great ideas of things to do at home with our families. Perfect half term timing!
Some believe that participating in an activity requires an outdoor environment. Wrong. There are many fun activities that can be done as a family! From playing board games to building objects, activities will bring you and your family much closer together when bored indoors on a rainy day!
13 Fun Activities!
1. Plastic Bag Parachutes

This is an amazing child experiment that can be easily carried out! Simply find a paper clip to use as a weight, some string for the ropes and a plastic bag. Once the creation is all connected together, take it to the top of the stairs or a high platform and drop it off.
2. Card Games
Grab a pack of cards and away you go. There are hundreds of simple card games to play with your family. From snap to pairs, card games always keep the family happy!
3. Hide and Seek
Young and old, anyone qualifies to play a game of hide and seek. Just remember, be careful and try not to ruin any furniture!
4. Board Games
A range of different board games can be played as a family! Games such as snakes and ladders, twister, monopoly and cluedo are all fantastic and exciting games to play.
5. Build a Fort
Grab some spare pillows, blankets and chairs and get building! Everyone can take part, therefore it will increase the bond between family members.
6. Make Cupcakes
You can’t go wrong by cooking some golden cupcakes. Add some sprinkles and icing on top, where you and your family will be in for a treat!
7. Make Up a Funny Story and Take Turns Adding the Next Line
Create an order and begin sentence by sentence to create a funny story. Once you and your family have decided to finish the story, pick an individual to read it out and see what you came up with!
8. Snuggle Up and Watch a Film
Get everyone to hop into their PJ’s and watch a film! Host a vote to see which film to watch.
9. Dress Up
Get your kids to wear some wacky outfits, whilst you ‘parents’ judge their fashion style.
10. Let the Kids Help you Make Dinner
Ask your children for a hand when it comes to making dinner, beware that it may not taste too good…
11. Charades
Pick a film, tv show or book and act it out. Whoever guesses your topic first, wins!
12. Play on a Gaming Console
If you don’t have a gaming console, then do one of the other 1-11 activities listed above 🙂
13. Build a Fruit and Veg Patch (Be Brave and Go Outside)
What a great way to get your kids to try new fruits and vegetables!
